Hi, and welcome back to the simple SEO podcast. Today I want to jump in and talk about something that I've get gotten a ton of questions on recently, and that is how can you use chat GPT to do SEO for you? Can it, so let's talk about it for a minute. I know in the past I've said we're not using it to do our SEO, however. It's getting better. It's able to do something. So let's talk about what it can and can't do because honestly, it can speed things up for you and it can help with a lot. It just can't do everything for you. And you still need to really understand how SEO works and how Google works and ai, SEO and all of that to make sure that what you're getting is correct. So can you use it for SEO? Absolutely. You can, you can use it as a tool. In fact, I've created a custom chat bot, a custom GPT that my students are now using to help them work their way through my course faster and start implementing SEO on their website. So what it can really do. You in many, many ways. There are some limitations. There are some things that you're going to want to make sure you don't have chat GPT due, even if it tells you it can because it can't. So you can use it to really help you. Figure out what content to create. So I've created two custom chat bots for my students. One of them is to help them really get chatty, which is what I refer to it as, to really get chatty to sound more like them, to help really figure out their brand voice and what they say and what they don't say, so that it helps it sound more like them, so that we're not necessarily getting the robotic Speak of chat, GPT. Like a year or two years ago, or year, year and a half ago when it first came out, you know how you could immediately tell that it was created with chat GPT? Because it used all sorts of words that we don't really use on a day-to-day basis, which is interesting because it's trained on language. So somebody out there is saying game changing and um. Massive and enormous and different things all the time. But as most of us as business owners, most of us don't speak that way. So the first one that I've created is to help you. Really figure out how to make chat, GPT sound more like you. How to identify who your ideal customer is, what questions they have, what they need, all of that. Because when we're creating content, it's really important that we're thinking about who are we creating it for and how do we help them, and what information do they need. So that's the first thing. So yes, you can use chat GPT to help you create content Now. I want you to be very involved in the process. It's very important that you are the final touch on anything that you publish to your website, your social media, your email, et cetera. But you can use Chatty to help you brainstorm ideas. If you are new to blogging and you're trying to figure out what. Your content topics are what pillars you should be covering. You can have chatty help you to brainstorm that. That's what one of my custom GPTs does for my students is help them figure out what would my ideal customer be interested in, what topics would make sense, and then brainstorm topics. So you can do that. You can use it from a content standpoint, you can ask it to. I give you a list of ideas that you could potentially write about for your ideal customer. You can use it to outline a post, to tell you what you should write about, what you should include. You can use it to help you understand how to potentially outrank a competitor. Let's say that. It. You have a page, you have a website blog or a website page that's ranking in position two, and your competitor's ranking in position one, and you want to understand why they're ranking higher than you. You can actually ask chat GPT to take a look at it and to give you guidance and feedback and let you know why that one is ranking higher than yours. So I, that's one of the things that I've trained my custom GPT to do for my students, is to look at that page and say, Hey, why are they ranking higher than me? What do I need to add in? How do I change this to have a better chance of ranking? You can ask it to give you an outline for a blog post. You can ask it to even give you a draft. Now, I am gonna caution you, I don't want you to have chat, GPT, actually write your final. Blog post for you. I want you to be involved in this. And it's very important because remember, everything that's coming out of chat, GPT is information that's already out there in the world. It's not new, it's not unique. You need to make it new and unique and special for you and for your audience. And remember, Google wants you to look at, Google's gonna grade you based on a system. Your experience, your expertise, your authority, and your trust. So we need to show Google. How you are different, how you have this experience, you have this expertise by adding in those anecdotes, those case studies, those stories, all those things that make you you and unique and make your content unique. That's something chat GPT cannot do for you. And when I say chatty, I mean you can substitute Claude, you can substitute whichever one you are wanting to use, whichever one you prefer, but it's the same thing. Make sure that you are involved in the process as well. So when you're doing this, I want you to start, before you start asking it to help you with any work. I want you to start by finding the correct key word and chat. GPT cannot do this for you. And it will tell you, it will eagerly tell you, unless you're one of my students and you're using the SEO assistant that I built for you, which is trained to tell you I can't do that. I can help you with ideas, but I want you to brainstorm ideas and. It can kind of help with ideas, but I'm gonna tell you right now, if you ask it anything about competition, you ask it anything about search volume, it's really bad at that. It's gonna tell you these are low, these are low competition keywords. These would be great for a small web website, and then it's gonna recommend something like lamps. So don't use it for keyword research. It's not that, but you can brainstorm. I ask it to give you an idea of 10 long tail keywords that a website. Low domain authority might be able to rank for and feed it information about your ideal customer and your business. And these are my topics and my pillars. I need 12 ideas on this topic, or I need 12 ideas on this content pillar. Tell it what keywords you want it to use. Ideally, if you don't know what keywords you're going after, ask it to help you brainstorm a list of keywords. Let it know who your ideal customer is, what you wanna talk about, what your content pillars are, et cetera. Then take that brainstorm list and go to a real keyword research tool, and that's where I want you to do. The verification, I want you to look for the competitiveness, your website's ability to rank. Um, you know, do you really have a chance? Can you really potentially rank for that one? Do not trust chat GPT to do that part of it for you because it's not capable. It may very well tell you that it is, but it is not. So you need to be very involved in the keyword research process. Once you have your keyword, then you can ask it. Step two is just to have it outline your blog post. What should you include and let it know. You want to think like an SEO expert and you want to create a blog post. That is helpful for your ideal customer and you want to make sure you include elements for EEAT and help me outline this blog post. What should I include? You can even go as far as having it write the first draft for you, really giving you insights and information and what you should put in there. And then what I want you to do. Is to edit that blog post. So you go through and you review and you change the text, and you change it so that it sounds like you, it doesn't sound like chatty, it sounds unique to you. Add in your EEAT. Elements do all of this so that the content that you create is high enough quality that Google will potentially share it with people if you just simply post the content. The way it comes out of chat, GPT Google considers that AI spam content and they are not going to rank you high for it because there's no real value or benefit. So make sure that. You're taking that draft and you are editing it, then you want to optimize your blog post. So once you have it, it's edited, you're happy with it. You can tell chat, GPT what title, what keyword to use, and ask it to write a title tag and a meta description that follow SEO best practices. You may need to let it know that you want your title tag to be less than 60 characters, and you want your meta description to be less than 160 characters. I've seen it be hit or miss here. Sometimes it's really good and it knows those numbers and sometimes it kind of messes up. Now, if you're one of my students and you're using the AI SEO tool, you don't have to worry about telling you it should already know. So now it can write your title tag and your meta description, which is going to save you time. It's gonna make it easier for you to rank on Google with this new content piece, and you don't have to worry about being the one to rank it. You can also ask chat GPT to look at your finalized blog post. Once you've done your editing, you've added in your EEAT elements. You have your title tag and your meta description. You can actually ask it to take a look at your blog post and let you know if there's something else. Should add to increase your chances of ranking for this particular keyword. There's so much you can do with it. It's a really powerful tool if you use it the right way. So, AI standpoint, it can do about 75% of the work for you today, creating your blog post, creating your content for your website if you understand really how to format those quick. And your, uh, prompts to make sure that it sounds like you and it's on brand, and you are adding in the EEAT elements and you are involved in the editing process. It can do a lot of the heavy lifting. That's why I created two custom GPTs for my students because I wanted them to be able to use chat GPT because it does speed things up so much, but I wanted to make sure that. The version of it they were using had correct information in it because sometimes chat GPT makes mistakes. So it's really important that we make sure that we're verifying what it's telling us what we're doing, make sure the content makes sense. But you can absolutely use it to help you with your SEO and your content development on your website. Just remember. It cannot do your keyword research for you. It will tell you it can, unless you're using, unless you're one of my students and you're using the one I created for you, which should tell you, I can help you brainstorm, but you need to use another keyword research tool. So I want you to really remember that it's not good at keyword research, but it can absolutely help you with your content pillars, your topics, blog, post titles. It can help you brainstorm, um, email subject line. Weekly email. It can help you do so many things to speed up the process. If you're curious, you wanna learn more about how to do this, there is a blog post all about this on my website. I'll put the link in the notes. It also was in the email. If you are on my email list and you got the email today. The link to it is there. I've included some sample prompts that you can use to help you connect with chat GPT and get the information that you need out of it. And if you want access to my custom GPTs, join me in simple SEO content and you will have access to those so that you know that what it's doing is correct, as with any tool. You really need to have a base understanding of how things work so that you can verify that what it's doing is correct. Once you have that base understanding, you really, you get the rules of ranking on Google and ranking in ai. So chat, GPT, perplexity. AI overviews, AI mode, all of that, then you can use these tools to speed things up drastically. But I don't want you just playing around with them if you haven't learned what the best practices are because there's too much room for error. And if you make mistakes here, I mean, you guys, you understand with SEO, you have to follow the rules. You don't wanna make mistakes, you don't wanna get into trouble with. AI search. So if you're really looking to learn and speed this up, join me in class. Let me teach you what you need to do and then teach you how to use chat GPT to do as much of the work for you as possible because it really, truly can make a big difference. Alright, that's it for this week. I will see you back here next Tuesday. Bye for now.
